Monaco Grand Prix History
The Monaco Grand Prix’s origins date back to 1929 and the event has appeared on the Formula 1 calendar almost every year since the sport’s inaugural season in 1950. Known as the ‘Jewel In The Crown’, it is the most prestigious and most recognisable race on the calendar. The circuit has separated elite drivers from their peers over the decades, with Ayrton Senna, Graham Hill and Michael Schumacher among the names with the most wins in the principality.
About Circuit de Monaco
Surrounded by France, the tiny principality of Monaco is one of few sovereign city-states and is home to some of the world’s wealthiest individuals. Monte Carlo has to be seen to be believed, with its grand architecture built into the side of cliff faces, paired with the stunning coastline of the French Riviera. There’s no better way of seeing Monaco than from the circuit itself, which - uniquely - is open to the public after each day of on-track action.
