Where to Watch at the Hungaroring

Thanks to being built in a natural bowl, most grandstands and general admission areas at the Hungaroring offer views of multiple corners. The circuit’s main grandstand - with views of the grid, pit lane and podium - was renovated ahead of last year’s race. The Apex and Grid grandstands, around the final corner are a good place to see wheel-to-wheel action, while the Pit Exit and T1 stands have views of the opening corner.

Hungarian Grand Prix History

Constructed in just nine months in the mid 1980s, the Hungaroring has been ever-present on the Formula 1 calendar since hosting the Hungarian Grand Prix for the first time in 1986. Described as “Monaco without the walls”, it is a deceptively tricky track to master and can produce some unexpected results - like Jenson Button’s maiden win in 2006 or Esteban Ocon’s triumph with Alpine in 2021.

About the Hungaroring

Budapest’s well-developed transport network means that the Hungaroring, 20km northwest of the city center, is easy to get to by train, bus or taxi. One of the top six visited cities in Europe, late July is an ideal time to visit and there’s plenty to see and do in Budapest away from the circuit, from architectural wonders to thermal baths and river cruises.
