Why Montreal Should be Top of Your F1 Travel Plans
The Canadian Grand Prix, held each year at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, is a major favourite amongst fans and provides an excellent option for those European fans looking to attend a long-haul race in 2027.
Its unique circuit layout, comprising a blend of high-speed corners, tight chicanes and a long back straight, provides ample overtaking opportunities and has resulted in some memorable races and first time wins down the years.
Located on the St. Lawrence River, the circuit is easy to get to, and its lively atmosphere is matched only by the extensive range of entertainment options nearby in Montreal, a city which truly embraces F1’s annual visit with downtown street parties and events.
The Best Way to Experience the Canadian Grand Prix
Grand Prix Events will soon be on sale with premium grandstand seating for next year’s race, and while tickets aren’t yet available, here are our top tips for where to sit to get the best view of the on-track action.
- Grandstand Platine – Located between the Senna Corner and Podium Club, this is the only covered grandstand at the circuit. It is located on the inside of the track’s opening corners.
- Grandstand 1 – Circuit Gilles Villeneuve’s main grandstand overlooks the start line and grid. It is a great place to watch the pre-race grid preparations and post-race celebrations.
- Grandstands 11 & 12 – Looking for on-track action? Grandstands 11 and 12 overlook the Senna corner, the first gear tight right-hander at the end of the main straight, and is the best place to see all of the first lap drama!
- Grandstand 34 – You’ll get awesome panoramic views of Montreal’s iconic hairpin from Grandstand 34. An affordable grandstand which always sells out quickly!
